No — not at all. Your local utility still owns and maintains the wires and poles. Switching your energy supplier only changes who generates and sells you the electricity, not who delivers it. Outages, repairs, and emergency service all remain with your utility.

Enrollment itself takes about 5 minutes. The actual switch is processed on your next meter read date, which is typically within 1–2 billing cycles. Your existing service continues without interruption throughout the process.

Nope. Lumi handles the entire transfer process. Your new supplier submits a switch request directly to your utility. You don't need to cancel anything or make any phone calls. You'll receive confirmation from both your new provider and your utility once the switch is complete.

Lumi sends you a renewal alert 45–60 days before your contract expires. She'll scan the market again and present you with updated options — including whether staying on your current plan still makes sense. You're never auto-renewed into a higher rate without your knowledge.
